A delicious way to keep the doctor away.
Autumn is ripe for juicy South Carolina apples. Head out to the farm this fall and enjoy lazy hayrides, delightful corn mazes and of course, apples - apples by the bushel basket. Pick them right from the tree and use your bounty to create warm apple cider, homemade apple butter or a classic apple pie. Find barrels of fun at Nivens Apple Farm, Windy Hill Orchard and Bryson's Apple Orchard.

A little pumpkin patch work.
Reap the harvest this fall at any of South Carolina's great pumpkin patches. Forage for that perfect pumpkin and create sweet treats like pumpkin bread or pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. Cook up a hearty healthy soup and a heaping-helping of family fun. Be sure to carve out some time with the kids and transform ordinary pumpkins into ghoulishly glowing jack-o-lanterns – a must on any front porch this Halloween.

Aw shucks, it's oyster season!
To oyster aficionados September marks the beginning of the "r-months" – a time when the delicacy is at its peak. In South Carolina that means countless oyster roasts and festivals. Enjoy them raw, fried, baked or on a po' boy sandwich. Come January more than 65,000 pounds are dumped onto the back lawn of Boone Hall Plantation for the annual Lowcountry Oyster Festival. Oyster lovers will surely want to save the date.

Husk named Best New Restaurant in America.
