FDA: Too Little, Too Late
If an institution like the Food and Drug Administration is going to exist, it should live up to its obligations.
But when it comes to making sure that the food and drugs Americans consume every day are safe and free of toxins, I can't think of a bigger failure.
For proof, look no further than how the FDA has been handling red dye – specifically red dye no. 3.
Food coloring has appeared in one form or another for a long time, but it really took off in the mid-19th century. That's when food production began to morph from the local level into the multi-national, industrial project it is today.
