House Republicans managed to pass a budget resolution late Tuesday night, soon after initially withdrawing it, paving the way for President Trump's legislative agenda. The resolution passed with a tight 217-215 vote and is now set to move to the Senate. This resolution encompasses GOP priorities including taxes, border security, and energy policy. The decision followed a tumultuous session where GOP leaders negotiated intensely during an extended unrelated vote. Although they briefly canceled the budget vote, they reversed this decision and successfully passed it minutes later. Despite facing opposition from fiscal conservatives concerned about the deficit and moderates opposed to deep spending cuts, key last-minute support was secured, largely due to Trump’s direct involvement and persuasive efforts.
