I don't know about you, but in a year where I didn't spend money on my usual living expenses and hobbies—my monthly MetroCard, post-work drinks with friends, travel—I saved a lot. Sure, I put a good chunk of that into my savings, but I also found myself buying things that I have always wanted, but didn't think I actually needed.
