Topiary whimsy Pearl Fryar crafts masterpieces of a different kind right in his yard. No paint necessary, just a gas-powered hedge trimmer. Fryar cuts trees and shrubs into whimsical art of all shapes and sizes and wows avid gardeners and visitors from around the country. Pearl Fryar's Topiary Garden in Bishopville is open year round Tuesday through Saturday. Tours of the three-acre topiary garden are free, but donations are always welcome. Nature's art Hike through gorgeous gorges at Eastatoe Creek Heritage Preserve in Pickens County. Along the way, you'll find a steep mountain gorge with old growth hemlock, dramatic rock cliffs, rare ferns and a stream filled with rainbow trout.
