The highly anticipated Athletes Unlimited Softball League debuted this summer, but we couldn't really call it legit until the pro league secured its official snack. Or snacks, we should say — ESPN Ultimate Snackdown teamed up with a group of social media food influencers to craft four special ice cream sundaes for the AUSL. With names like Strawberry Shortstop, Bases Loaded Brownie Blast, Key Lime Curveball, and Pinch Hitter Pudding, they all sound equally delectable. If you can't get to a game this summer, you can check out the recipes here to make the sundaes at home.

Crack Those Shells: Study Says Eggs May Actually Reduce Cholesterol, Not Raise It

Despite all the protein, vitamins, and minerals that eggs dish out, they feature one potential thorn in an otherwise rosy nutritional profile: They're famously high in cholesterol, leading some 20th-century researchers to suggest that they could raise your cholesterol and contribute to heart disease. However, a new study out of Australia may have flipped the script. Researchers narrowed in on the difference between dietary cholesterol — the kind eggs contain — and LDL cholesterol, or the "bad" kind that can increase your risk of cardiovascular disease. "Eggs have long been unfairly cracked by outdated dietary advice," lead researcher Jon Buckley said in a news release. "They're unique — high in cholesterol, yes, but low in saturated fat. Yet it's their cholesterol level that has often caused people to question their place in a healthy diet." His team found that eating two eggs a day as part of a high-cholesterol, low-saturated fat diet actually lowered LDL levels, potentially reducing the risk of heart disease. "You could say we've delivered hard-boiled evidence in defense of the humble egg," Buckley joked. Get more info on the study (and the other recent research that's giving eggs some good PR).

This New Toilet Paper Just Might Save the World
Every 24 hours, 27,000 trees are cut down just to make toilet paper. We think that's far too many, and Honeycomb agrees, which is why the brand created luxury three-ply made from bamboo. It feels just like regular high-end toilet paper, but doesn't harm trees. Why bamboo? It grows insanely fast — almost 100 times faster than the average tree — making it a sustainable option to save forests. Bamboo also has uniquely short fibers, which are perfect for creating soft toilet tissue you can feel good about. It's biodegradable, 100% plastic-free, and Honeycomb delivers straight to you. The best part? Code NICE35 will give 35% off your first shipment for the next 24 hours.
A fuzzy bundle of joy is delighting viewers in new footage out of England: the first snow leopard to be born at the Chester Zoo in its 94-year history. Hidden cameras offered a glimpse of the 6-week-old cub exploring its den with mom Nubra. "It's a truly historic moment and a real cause for celebration — not just for our teams here but also for the future of this magnificent species globally," Dave Hall, team manager of carnivores, said in a news release. Nubra and her mate, Yashin, both age 3, were matched as part of an international conservation breeding program. Their new cub, welcomed on June 10, is expected to venture out of the den soon, and will then enjoy the zoo's Himalayan habitat with its parents. "It's just fantastic to see the cub growing stronger and more confident each day," said Hall. "What's really exciting is that it could decide to follow mum Nubra outside at any moment to start exploring the outside world."

Crowdfunding College Recruitment: Digital Platform Lets Sports Fans Shape Their Teams
CFP/Getty Images
College sports is serious business, and for fans of smaller schools that don't have donors offering up top dollar to attract talent, seeing a star player leave for more money is a bitter pill. But a growing digital platform called Fanstake aims to level the playing field by crowdfunding name, image, and likeness deals that incentivize athletes to either choose or stay at a college. Here's how it works: Fans pledge money to recruit a player to their school, or retain one already on the roster, and the money is pooled to fund a deal. For example, if 50,000 fans pledged $10 each to recruit a top high school quarterback, that player would be presented with a $500,000 NIL deal. Should the athlete sign with a different college, fans can reallocate their money or get a refund. "The reality is schools of all sizes have a revenue gap, and it's why they've turned to donors historically. What Fanstake enables is democratization and transparency in the landscape," CEO Greg Glass tells Nice News, adding: "The more community support there is, the more all schools can remain competitive and fund downstream programs." Currently, all D1 football players, D1 men's and women's basketball players, and top high school prospects are on Fanstake.

TNA Socks Some wisdom that has come with age: It's worth spending a bit more on socks that aren't going to develop holes after just a few weeks or months of wear. TNA, a line from the store Aritzia, has my favorite high-quality socks. They're sold in different sizes, so they actually fit correctly, and come in a variety of styles, from dressy to casual and athletic. My favorites are the ankle socks, but they also make great grip socks for any barre or Pilates frequenters out there. – Ally Mauch, Associate Editor
Veronica Aimee Chik has yet to turn double digits, but she's already made climbing history. Earlier this month, the 9-year-old ascended Fish Eye in Oliana, Spain, making her the youngest person ever to climb a 5.14b (8c) route — a very advanced level in sport climbing. When asked in 2024 whether she was afraid of falling, she had quite a powerful response: "Not at all. I am already used to it, so I have no fear of falling anymore. … Nothing on this Earth can deter my progress." See photos of her scaling to the top.

The official start of the pro football season may be over a month away, but NFL training camp is in full gear. While there are plenty of pictures of players participating in drills, we couldn't resist sharing this precious moment between the Jacksonville Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence and his nearly 7-month-old daughter, Shae Lynn Lawrence, who visited her pops at the "office" after practice. Too cute!
