World-class orchestra Enjoy the otherworldly sounds of The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra as they journey from Africa to Clemson, S.C. on their first United States tour. You can catch this 65-piece orchestra conducted by Martin Panteleev on Feb.21 at the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts. Prepare to be amazed by Russian-American and Juilliard-trained violinist Phillippe Quint, recipient of two recent Grammy nominations.
Experience the world of Gullah Immerse yourself in Gullah culture at the Hilton Head Island Gullah Celebration Feb. 1-28. Authentic Gullah food and music combined with storytelling, a play and a film series showcase the language, perseverance and traditions of the native islanders. "De Aarts Ob We People" arts show includes more than 50 vendors, kids' activities and artists demonstrating quilt making and basket weaving.
Heat things up this February Tap your feet to Latin grooves and hot Brazilian beats as the Newberry Opera House presents Ballet Folklorico de Bahia Feb.17. "Carnival 2000" features 32 energetic dancers, musicians and singers performing elements such as "Capoeira," the Afro-Brazilian martial arts, "Samba de Roda," a precursor of the samba, and a finale of "Samba Reggae" from Bahia's carnival.


	Mahalia: A Gospel Musical Equal parts gospel musical, biography, and revival meeting, Mahalia creates a spiritual and spirited look at Mahalia Jackson, "The Queen of Gospel Music." Valdina Hall brings Mahalia to life at Trustus Theatre in Columbia Feb. 11 - March 5 with songs such as "His Eye is on the Sparrow," "How I Got Over" and "Deep River."	Action! Visit the film locations of several movies during the fifth annual Beaufort International Film Festival Feb.16-20. More than 30 independent films and five screenplays will be presented, including entries by hometown filmmakers such as Beaufort native Michael Givens and foreign directors such as Ireland's Anthony Byrne.
