Issue #35 I March 20, 2025 ![]() Photography by Shaun Robinson ![]() ![]() Welcome to The Mindset by Super Age. This week, we’re diving deep into care—from the cellular to the communal. And we're hearing from both of our founders: David unpacks the evolving science behind GLP-1s and why it’s okay to change your mind when the data shifts. Heather reflects on the radical practice of care in a world where empathy is under attack. Plus, we’re spotlighting the top nutrition tech to fuel your longevity journey—and a powerful reminder that even small, steady steps can add years to your life. Let's dive in! ![]() ![]() The Ozempic Shift David, here, founder of Super Age. I want to take a moment to unpack Ozempic-like drugs (GLP-1). When GLP-1s came onto the scene, I was skeptical. Muscle loss, gut problems, and rebound weight gain raised red flags. For people with diabetes or severe obesity, the benefits made sense. But for everyone else? It felt like another pharmaceutical disaster waiting to happen. Then the data started shifting—and so did I. In my conversations with physicians and researchers, I’m seeing signs that GLP-1s might do more than curb appetite. We’re talking potential reductions in inflammation, lower risks of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, and even positive signals around addiction and osteoarthritis. Some are exploring micro-dosing to retain benefits while minimizing side effects. I’m still cautious—but also curious. At Super Age, we stay agile and question everything. And when the science changes? We evolve. ![]() ![]() Small Steps, Big Impact You may have heard that 10,000 steps is the gold standard for health. But the truth is more nuanced. A study of 16,000 women found that walking just 4,400 steps daily lowered their risk of early death compared to those who walked fewer than 2,700. The benefits increased up to 7,500 daily steps but then seemed to plateau. Does this mean 7,500 is the new target? Maybe. But the truth is simpler: Consistent movement, no matter how modest, can radically impact longevity. What is clear is that tracking your progress can help you know what works for you. We created a guide that examines the best wearable tech and how to use it effectively. Check it out! 🏃♀️ ![]() ![]() 2025’s Top Nutrition Tech Longevity nutrition is getting personal and precise. In a world where “belonging” is becoming a controversial idea, I wanted to take a moment to talk about care. My husband is recovering from surgery right now, and he's what you might call a "high-maintenance healer." He has specific requests—his kombucha needs to be poured into a particular glass, his watercolor paper must be just the right size, and his Dixon Ticonderoga pencils are non-negotiable. And, as his caretaker, I'm doing my best to navigate his needs and keep my sanity. But, as we all know, care can be messy, tender, and deeply human, bringing out the best and the worst in us. Lately, I’ve noticed a narrative in some corners of our culture that frames care and empathy as weaknesses in a chaotic world. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. Empathy is the intelligence that makes care meaningful. And care, when done with firm boundaries and compassion, is the connective tissue that builds strong communities (and relationships). ![]() Thank you for reading this issue of The Mindset!
