Reader, Big Pharma is so desperate to sell you more of their cholesterol-busting statin drugs that they're now making the outrageous claim that they can prevent cancer.
Let me be clear: The only anti-cancer benefit that can be said about statins is their mild anti-inflammatory effect.
But to prescribe these toxic drugs for their small anti-inflammatory impact – especially when there are hundreds of safe and natural ways to cool inflammation – is one of the most irresponsible medical decisions I can imagine.
I've been railing against statins my entire medical career.
And even though this stance has turned me into an outlaw among conventional doctors, I'm happy that I've saved countless lives – just by getting patients to stop taking these dangerous drugs.
I bet chances are high that a doctor has cajoled, persuaded, scared, or even bullied you into taking a statin to lower cholesterol.
The first problem with these drugs is that they don't prevent heart disease, which is the main reason doctors prescribe them.
Multiple studies – including the landmark Framington Heart Study – found NO link between high cholesterol and an increased risk of heart disease.
(In fact, increasing HDL cholesterol LOWERS your heart disease risk.)
But the unintended consequences of taking statins are worse. Even the previously known side effects, like fatigue, muscle pain, and rhabdomyolysis (when muscle cells burst), are enough to tell me you don't want to go anywhere near these drugs.
Now the latest scientific research has linked these awful meds to other serious diseases, including:1,2 - Skin cancer (squamous cell carcinoma) tumors in men
- Serious liver dysfunction
- Acute kidney failure
- Serious myopathy (disease of the muscles)
But the most common threat is that statins don't just lower LDL, they also lower your HDL (good cholesterol) levels…
And that will actually raise your risk of heart disease.
Now, in what can only be described as an act of desperation, another new study – authored in part by researchers connected to Big Pharma – claims that statins can also be used to prevent cancer, thanks to their anti-inflammatory properties.3
A quick look at the premise and the final few paragraphs of this study reveals pretty much all you need to know about it…
Big Pharma loves a steady income stream, and the prevention and treatment of cancer is one of the biggest cash cows they have – especially when they can use a pre-existing drug.
But here's the kicker and it actually comes as no surprise: Three of the study authors have stated conflicts of interest.
Two have filed a patent to use the study results commercially and another has a financial stake in the California pharma company, DermBiont.
The study claims that statins work to prevent cancer by inhibiting Interleukin 33, a protein that plays a critical role in regulating your body's inflammatory immune response.
But here's what neither the study authors nor Big Pharma want to talk about…
You don't need statins to reduce inflammation or prevent cancer. 3 Supplements That Protect Against Both Inflammation And Cancer Mother Nature has provided dozens of safe, proven, inexpensive, and powerful anti-inflammatory cancer killers that not only destroy cancer cells but prevent them from ever forming in the first place.
Here are three I recommend to my patients… - Medicinal mushrooms: For generations, Asian healers have relied on medicinal mushrooms to treat various cancers. They're used as registered anti-cancer drugs in Japan. Studies show that cancer patients can use medicinal mushrooms to:
- Kill cancer cells and shrink tumors
- Improve chemotherapy results
- Counteract chemotherapy toxicity
- Improve immune system function
- Prevent new cancers
Two of the best medicinal mushroom cancer fighters are Turkey Tail (Coriolus versicolor) and Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum).
Turkey Tail has been used to successfully treat gastric and colon cancers and triple survival time in advanced liver cancer cases – thanks to two anti-cancer compounds it contains, PSK (polysaccharide kureha) and PSP (polysaccharide peptide).4
Meanwhile, Reishi works against many types of cancer, including invasive prostate cancer, melanoma, and aggressive breast cancer. It also protects patients against the ravages of standard cancer treatments that damage the immune system.5,6,7
Take 2,000 mg of full turkey tail extract in capsule form daily on an empty stomach and 1,000 mg of reishi extract daily.
- Turmeric: This Asian root has been used for thousands of years as both a spice and medicine. Its active ingredient is curcumin, one of the most powerful anti-inflammatories and anti-cancer compounds known.
A study published in the journal Anticancer Research showed that curcumin targets and kills cancer stem cells, which are the young malignant cells that grow into tumors.8
I suggest supplementing. Take 3,000 mg and look for a supplement that also contains piperine to boost bioavailability.
- Ginger: This ancient root is an antioxidant and a natural cancer fighter. Its active compounds, 6-gingerol, and 6-shogaol, exhibit anti-cancer properties against gastrointestinal tract and reproductive system cancers.
Studies show that it inhibits cell‐signaling pathways that are important in the early development of cancer.9
I like to use 1 teaspoon of raw ginger in my recipes or added to herbal teas. It's also available as a supplement. I recommend 100 to 300 mg daily. Taking more than 500 mg leads to gastrointestinal issues.
