There are countless versions you can choose from.
| | The Mexican Sauce Every Home Cook Should Make at Least Once | Mole is a quintessential Mexican sauce that dates back to pre-Hispanic times. It exists in countless versions, varying in color, consistency, ingredients, and use. At its most basic, mole contains a blend of chile peppers, tomatoes or tomatillos, fruit or some other sweet element, nuts or seeds, often but not always cocoa, and a blend of spices. Traditionally, each ingredient is grinded in a molcajete (a mortar and pestle), but we're using a high-speed blender. Our version doesn't use 40-plus ingredients or take days to prepare, but we think it tastes divine. | | | | | | | | | | The Spruce Eats on YouTube | | | | | | | | | | | | Follow us: | You are receiving this newsletter because you subscribed to Cooking School by The Spruce Eats newsletter.
