Magnificent gardens While South Carolina's gardens are beautiful year round, Mother Nature really puts on a show in the spring. Stroll through some of the state's stunning gardens, decked in petals of all shapes, sizes and colors. From the Blue Ridge to the Lowcountry, you'll find awe-inspiring gardens like SC Botanical Gardens in Clemson or Middleton Place in Charleston. Wherever your journey leads, you'll adore the riot of color. Blooming art festival An exciting art festival is blooming in Lake City! ArtFields is the largest arts event of its kind in the Southeast. The 10-day festival, April 19-28, will feature workshops, lectures, public art, live music, dancing, and delicious Southern food. Visit now to see the works of artists from the Southeast displayed in Lake City businesses and vote for your favorite. Winners will receive cash prizes totaling $100,000! Fragrant celebrations When flowers bloom in the spring, South Carolina celebrates with festivals. The first weekend in April, Denmark throws a party on Main Street for the Dogwood Festival. Roses are the center of attention in May at Lancaster's Red Rose Festival and the Orangeburg Festival of Roses. Visit Sumter the last weekend in May for the Iris Festival.
