News Today:
President-elect Trump has requested the Supreme Court to delay his sentencing in a New York hush money case, according to a recent court filing. His lawyers argue that the sentencing and further proceedings should be stayed while appeals regarding presidential immunity are considered. They claim that preparing for sentencing as he transitions into presidency would impose an unconstitutional burden on him and national interests. Despite Trump's efforts, lower courts have denied his attempts to stop his sentencing or overturn his felony conviction. Trump, previously convicted by a New York jury on 34 counts of falsifying business records, asserts that presidential immunity should extend to presidents-elect to protect them from criminal proceedings during the transition period.
