News Alert
Senator Mitt Romney (R-Utah) warned that former President Trump's threats to target his political rivals should be taken seriously, referencing Trump's history of similar actions. In an interview with McKay Coppins of The Atlantic, Romney emphasized that Trump's past behavior suggests he would follow through on his threats to use the Department of Justice against his opponents. Romney, who has occasionally opposed his party to criticize Trump, reflected on the likelihood of being on Trump's "enemy list" and the implications for himself and his family should Trump be reelected. He expressed concerns about potential investigations but noted he has no incriminating issues that would warrant legal scrutiny. Despite concerns about his large family being targeted, Romney hoped it would be unlikely for Trump to pursue his relatives. In a dismissive response, a Trump spokesperson called Romney "too insignificant to matter."
