Dear Fellow Investor,
One of the Top Hurricane Stocks is Exploding Higher
Each year, as hurricane season begins, a select group of stocks quietly comes to life.
They’re not always the hottest tech names or trending tickers—but historically, when storms hit, these companies see surging demand for their products and services. And with the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season officially underway, some of these stocks are already beginning to rally.
If forecasts are accurate, this year could bring a major boost to these “storm season” trades.
NOAA Predicts an Above-Average Hurricane Season
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season could be unusually active. The official outlook includes:
-
A 60% chance of an above-normal hurricane season
-
A forecast of 13 to 19 named storms (winds of 39 mph or higher)
-
6 to 10 hurricanes, including 3 to 5 major hurricanes (Category 3 or higher)
NOAA also reported having 70% confidence in these projections, making it one of the more certain outlooks in recent years.
Historically, active hurricane seasons drive increased demand for power solutions, emergency services, and home improvement supplies. In short, they’re a potential boon for the companies best positioned to help communities prepare and recover.
Company: Generac Holdings (SYM: GNRC)
One of the most obvious—and effective—ways to play the hurricane trade is with Generac Holdings (SYM: GNRC).
Generac is the leading provider of home standby generators in the U.S., and also dominates the global market for mobile and industrial generators. When storm threats grow, homeowners and businesses alike turn to backup power solutions—which is where Generac shines.
Back in late May, GNRC was trading at just $122. Fast forward to today, and it’s jumped to over $153—a 25% gain in just a few weeks.
And the season is just getting started.
What’s especially interesting is that several major Wall Street firms lowered their price targets on GNRC just before hurricane season began. That’s a great example of why investors should pay attention to historical patterns and do their own research.
With a strong setup, ongoing weather risks, and increasing consumer demand for emergency preparedness, Generac could continue to outperform through the summer and fall.

Companies: Home Depot (SYM: HD) and Lowe’s (SYM: LOW)
Beyond power generators, home improvement retailers also tend to benefit from major storms—both before and after they strike.
According to Morgan Stanley, retailers like Home Depot (SYM: HD) and Lowe’s (SYM: LOW) are “naturally positively exposed to preparation and recovery efforts.”
That includes demand for:
-
Plywood, tools, and sandbags during storm prep
-
Roofing, lumber, and building materials after the storm
While HD and LOW have been relatively flat since late May, that’s not unusual this early in the hurricane season. The real action tends to pick up after the first major storm makes landfall. With the season running through November 30, there’s still plenty of time for these stocks to gain traction.
It’s also worth noting that both companies pay healthy dividends and tend to perform well in volatile environments, making them long-term portfolio stabilizers, even outside of storm season.

Company: Xylem Inc. (SYM: XYL)
A lesser-known but equally important hurricane stock is Xylem (XYL).
Xylem is a global water technology company that provides advanced solutions for water transport, treatment, and disaster recovery. During hurricane season, Xylem works directly with cities, counties, and emergency response agencies to:
That makes XYL an essential part of post-hurricane recovery operations—especially when it comes to flood mitigation and stormwater management.
Since late May, shares of Xylem have climbed from $125 to $132, and the stock could have more room to run as storms pick up in frequency and severity.
