NY Sued For Trump Conviction

Missouri has filed a lawsuit against New York, seeking to lift the gag order on former President Trump during his hush money trial and delay his sentencing until after the November election. Trump was convicted in May on 34 counts of falsifying business records. Missouri claims the prosecution is politically motivated, hindering Trump’s ability to campaign and infringing on Missourians' rights.

The lawsuit, brought by Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey, petitions the Supreme Court to intervene, citing interstate conflict. Bailey argues that the charges against Trump are weak and politically driven to benefit President Biden's campaign. He also accuses the Manhattan District Attorney and the presiding judge of partisan bias.

The New York attorney general's office declined to comment, and the lawsuit follows a Supreme Court ruling expanding presidential immunity. Trump is seeking to overturn his conviction, while Missouri aims to ensure its citizens can hear Trump’s campaign messages without restrictions.
