Todd Blanche, former President Trump's lead defense attorney, stated on the "For the Defense" podcast that Melania Trump's absence during Trump's criminal trial was not due to a lack of support but because their son was finishing school in Florida. He emphasized that her absence should not be interpreted as a lack of love. During the trial, which ended in Trump's historic conviction on 34 counts related to concealing a hush money payment, only some of Trump's children attended sporadically.
Trump remarked that the trial's salacious content was hard on Melania, accusing the prosecution of intentionally using such tactics. Blanche also discussed his media engagements post-verdict and plans to appeal, mentioning a memorable line from his closing argument where he labeled the prosecution's main witness as the "Greatest Liar of All Time."
