During a recent White House press briefing, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre ended the session early after a confrontation with reporter Simon Ateba from Today News Africa. Ateba, who had accused the White House of discrimination in not selecting him to ask questions, attempted to ask about the visit of the Angolan President but was overlooked.
Jean-Pierre threatened to end the briefing if it wasn't conducted respectfully as Ateba protested being skipped. She eventually left the podium, appearing angry, despite further attempts by reporters to ask questions. This incident follows a previous clash in June, after which the White House had warned Ateba of potential revocation of his press privileges for interruptive behavior.
Jean-Pierre's office had also formally addressed Ateba's conduct in a letter he shared online.
